Access Award

This award is designed to encourage highly qualified underrepresented trainees to meet and ultimately join the Shock Society. This award will provide up to $1,000 to attend the Shock Society Annual Meeting.

Eligibility

This award is open to undergraduate students, graduate/medical students, and postdoctoral fellows who are underrepresented in the populations of Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Native Alaska, Black/African American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or Other Underrepresented Groups.

How to Apply

Abstract submission is not required for this award. Applicants must submit a candidate statement* (1 page), cirriculum vitae, and a letter of recommendation (from your supervising principal investigator, department chair, or academic advisor) to the [email protected] for consideration prior to January 31, 2026. When applying, please include Elisabetta Liverani in the CC field at [email protected].

*State your career goals, research goals, role in the research in the submitted abstract, and reasons why you are deserving of the award. Please be sure to indicate your level of training (undergrad/grad/postdoc) and which underrepresented group you belong to. If you indicate "Other Underrepresented Group," please provide an explanation for why belonging to this group makes you underrepresented.

The award will be presented at the 49th Annual Conference on Shock & 11th Congress of the International Federation of Shock Societies, May 31 - June 3, 2026, in Las Vegas, NV.
