New Investigator Awards

New Investigator Awards

To be eligible for the New Investigator Award, the applicant must be a current member of the Shock Society and a predoctoral student (M.D., Ph.D., DVM, D.O. or, DDS) or research fellow with no more than 2 years in postdoctoral research training and submit an abstract to the Shock Society Annual Meeting as the first author. Applicants must agree to publish their work in the SHOCK journal if accepted for publication. Applicants must check “New Investigator Award”, upload their CVs, and provide the name and email address of their advisors during the abstract submission process.

Five finalists will be selected by the Awards Committee based on scientific merit of the submitted abstracts. Finalists will present their work in a 10-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute question from the Awards Committee members only at the Shock Society Annual Meeting. The first-place winner will be announced at the Award Night dinner on Sunday. Each of finalists will be recognized with a plaque, a cash award (first place $650, other finalists $350), and a travel grant of $1,000.

Important Note: To be qualified for the competition, applicants must submit a manuscript resulting from their work to SHOCK (http://www.editorialmanager.com/shock/default.aspx). The manuscript must be submitted to the journal no later than 2 weeks prior to the annual meeting (Deadline: May 10, 2025), accompanied by a cover letter addressed to Dr. Remick that indicates the work is original, has not been submitted to another journal, and is from a New Investigator Award nominee.
